To Live

To live

You ask, what does it mean to live?

Is life the slow struggle of an ant

Carrying with all its might a crumb

Or is it the last explosion of a star

Before darkness displaces light?

Is life the march towards a tomb

Where nothingness holds sway

Or is it a butterfly’s easy flight,

The wondrous voyage of a day?

Is life the slow growth of a tree

Towards a dim source of light

Or is it plunging in a depth

That knows no touch or sight
